On Aug. 26, we celebrate the 94th anniversary of women's suffrage. With the passage of the 19th amendment to the Constitution, women earned the right to fully participate in the governing of our nation.
Since then, American women have broken barriers in every corner of the workforce and have redefined what is expected of them. Today, they serve with honor in all branches of our nation's military and continue to break barriers by serving in a wider range of jobs than ever before. Our Army's diversity is one of its greatest strengths, and having men and women of different backgrounds serving together benefits us all.
As we celebrate women's accomplishments, we should recognize the contributions of women in uniform but also those of the women who stand behind our Soldiers and support them in their service. Our Family members are truly the strength of our Soldiers, and we couldn't do what we do without their support.
Let us remember the service and sacrifice of our nation's women and let us continue working together as a community to ensure equal treatment of all members of our Army Family.
One Force, One Fight!
