As you are all aware, our Army is facing an unprecedented time of fiscal uncertainty. There are some tough decisions ahead of us, and we will have to make changes to achieve efficiencies while accomplishing our mission.
What will not change is our commitment to our most valuable resource our people.
In particular, our great civilian employees are essential to maintain the combat effectiveness of our Maneuver Force and taking care of our Soldiers and Families.
Our civilians provide invaluable expertise and continuity in critical positions.
Right now, our Army civilians are being asked to shoulder some extra weight, and austerity measures including furloughs are affecting finances, work schedules and workloads.
I realize this is not easy. Many of you may have concerns relating to your finances, your work schedule or your workload.
I would like all of us to express to our civilian teammates how much we value and appreciate their service and sacrifices. To all of our civilians, thank you. Our Army needs your dedication, expertise and leadership now more than ever.
One Force, One Fight!
