The Faith Middle School Drama Club is hosting its annual spring dinner theater with the production of The Ransom of Miss Elverna Dower at 6 p.m. March 22 at Faith Middle School.
Tickets for the show and the meal are $12. The meal will be grilled chicken, baked potato, salad, drink and pie, or for $8, a hot dog, side, drink and a cookie.
The play revolves around the kidnapping of teacher Elverna Dower and students at the school trying to get her back, said Alise Boal, seventh-grader.
I think they will get a really good show and have a fun night, Alise said. They can just have a good meal and come watch.
Students auditioned and began preparing for the production in December said Traci Kornett, drama club director.
Over the past couple of months, she and assistant director Janice Harvey worked with the cast to develop and really get to know the characters.
Seventh-grader Ellie Pirog said acting on stage helped her with shyness, so that now Im one of the leading roles this year.
Alise said she loved to be on stage.
Im one of those people who is really comfortable on stage and I just love entertaining people and being a different character than youre not normally, she said.
Besides being entertained, the production also allows the school to showcase students talents both on the stage and behind the scenes with lighting, building the set and working with the sound system, Kornett said.
Its also an opportunity for adults to see what students do outside of schoolwork, she said.
Having the community come out to see the students perform will show their support for the drama clubs efforts and hardwork, she said.
It would boost the students confidence, she said, to see a full audience once the curtains open, knowing they have the support of the community.
