The Fort Benning Community Spouses Club will host its annual Benning Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 2 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 3 in the lobby area of McGinnis-Wickam Hall.
The event is open to the tricommunity and will feature hundreds of handmade and local gifts from more than 90 vendors, featuring arts and crafts, jewelry, pottery, antiques, handmade goods and more, said Kim Diano, 2013 Benning Bazaar chairperson.
The bazaar has many new items this year, Diano said. Just one exciting addition is a Sweet Shoppe where donated baked goods and sweets will be available to raise money for the Community Spouses Club Community Grants and Scholarships Fund.
The event is open to the public with a suggested donation of $3 as an entrance fee. All monies raised will benefit the Fort Benning community through CSC charities.
The club is a combined community spouses organization operating on the installation, which strives to enhance the lives of the spouses stationed at Fort Benning, who reside in the tri-community area, or whose spouse is assigned at Fort Benning. The CSC works to support its surrounding communities.
Financial support by way of scholarships is provided to qualifying military dependents and community grants are provided to qualifying local organizations demonstrating a need.
The Benning Bazaar is one of the largest fundraisers for the Community Spouses Club, raising funds for our year-round programming, community grants and scholarship funds, said Michelle McNeill, CSC president. The bazaar is always a fun event for everyone while it also helps support a good cause, giving back to both the Fort Benning, Columbus and surrounding communities through scholarships and community grants. So many people want to give back and they dont know how, this is their opportunity.
